Use Case
This guide is used when there is a need to amend or supersede a tax return to correct issues identified in the original filing.
Workflow
Step 1:
Go to the general information section of the original tax return file.
Step 2:
In the basic return information, prepend "superseded" to the name if superseding, or "amended" if amending, as per your TCM (Tax Compliance Manager).
Step 3:
Compute the updated information three times to ensure the member's or business's name is updated in the listing.
Step 4:
Check the necessary box and click "save as". Enter the member number (UT ID for 2024, hub member ID for 2025), the full entity name, and then hit save to generate a new locator. Refresh or log out and back in if the new locator does not appear immediately.
Step 5:
Ensure the new locator does not contain any e-file history and use this locator for all amendments or superseding changes. This maintains the integrity of the original e-filing data.
