Starting a New Design in LiveStorage: Inputting Client Information
💡 Purpose:
This guide outlines the essential first steps to start a new design in LiveStorage, focusing on the critical task of entering client information accurately. This information is crucial for ensuring smooth project management and communication.
✔️ Procedure:
Open LiveStorage:Begin by opening a new document or sheet in LiveStorage.
Access the Parts List:Navigate to the top right corner and click on Parts List.
Enter Contact Information:In the Parts List, go to the top left corner where it says Contact Name. Click on it to open a new field for input.
Input Client Details:Enter the following four pieces of information:
- Client's Name
- Street Address
- Telephone Number
- Email Address
This information can usually be found on the calendar entry associated with the appointment. If it is not on the calendar for some reason, you can locate the information in Dashboard.
Confirm Information Entry:After entering the details, click SAVE. Make sure all the information is correct.
Update Parts List to Save the Information:Navigate to the bottom right and click the Update Parts List button (orange). This will refresh the page and show the newly entered information.
Save the File:Before proceeding with the design, click on the Save icon. Save the document in the Designer's Documents folder under the Designs folder on your Mac.
Create a New Folder:Inside the Designs folder, create a new folder named with the client's last name and their town. NOTE: If the client has a common last name, add additional information to the folder name. For example: If the client lived in Madison with the last name Smith, add the first name and street name in case we have another client Smith in Madison. So
Name the File:Save the actual file with the same naming convention: the client's last name and the town they live in.
- Final Update:Once saved, click the Update Parts List again to refresh the page and confirm that the file name is displayed correctly.
- Start Designing:Now you can begin working on your design in the various tabs available within LiveStorage.
Important Note:
Entering client information at the start of the design process is crucial. If this step is overlooked, it can lead to complications later, especially when the design moves to the contract stage. Having all information readily available saves time and effort for everyone involved.
